Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu has formally met HRD Minister Smriti Irani during his Delhi Visit. Naidu has requested Smriti to set up IIT, IIIT, IIM, AIIMS, and other premier educational, research institutes, as mentioned in the AP Reorganization Act 2013, in the new state.
It is learnt that Union HRD Minister Smriti has positively responded to Babu's request. She has immediately given nod to set up IIT which is expected to start its function from this year only. However, she is hopeful of setting up of other institutes as early as possible.

Babu has requested Smriti to allot more funds for these institutes in AP in the first budget which is just around the corner. Chandra Babu has handed over a detailed report of allocation of lands to 11 National Institutes in AP to Smriti Irani. Naidu is apparently pushing his best to get things done from Centre.
