CBN introducing Muslim leader to control Jagan

Chandrababu Naidu has opted for a cabinet that is a mixed bag containing the experience and fresh faces. The new team of ministers comprised one Vysya and two from SCs, five from Kamma community (including Chandrababu), four from the Kapu community, six from BCs and two from the Reddy community. The Tribal and Muslim communities remained unrepresented as of now.

Now Chandrababu is planning to introduce a Muslim leader into his cabinet. The move is aimed at sending a clear message to the minorities that the TDP is committed to safeguard the benefits of Minorities despite its tie-up with the BJP.

Ironically TDP does not have a single MLA from the Muslim community in the Assembly though there are four from the YSRC. Chandrababu who recently held discussions with Muslim leaders is planning to induct a Muslim leader into his cabinet first and then will have him elected to the Legislative Council.

Sources close to Naidu said that he is also under pressure from minority community leaders in the party to induct one in the ministry. Other side opposition YSRC has repeatedly cornered the ruling party in the Assembly over not having minority representation either in the Assembly or in the council of ministers.

Before elections Majority of Muslims in the Seemandhra backed YSR Congress as TDP formed an alliance with BJP. This helped YSR Congress to secure 4 MLA seats in the polls. This sudden move of inducting Muslim into cabinet is to welcome back the minorities who moved closer to YSR Congress after the tie-up with BJP in recent polls.

The CM realises how important it is to have a Muslim in the Cabinet so that the community vote bank does not remain permanently elusive. As of now, Former Minister N Md Farooq, Md Shareef (Narsapur, WD) and former MLA Ziauddin have been in the race.
