KCR's Impressive Move

Telangana first Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister of India PV Narsimha Rao on Saturday on the eve of PV's 93rd birth anniversary. PV Narsimha Rao is often referred as the father of Indian Economic Reforms as he had played instrumental role in the liberalization of banks, and bringing many vital financial reforms that led path for the development of India.

The veteran Congress statesman from Karimanagar was first from non-Hindi-speaking south India to assuem PM chair. PV was responsible for dismantling of the License Raj, reversing the socialist policies of Rajiv Gandhi's government. PV employed Dr. Manmohan Singh as his Finance Minister to embark on historic economic transition. With PV's mandate, then finance minister Manmohan Singh launched India's globalisation angle of the reforms that rescued the almost bankrupt nation from economic collapse. PV was also referred to as Chanakya for his ability to steer tough economic and political legislation through the parliament at a time when he headed a minority government.

Yet, PV was dumped by his own Party unceremoniously. PV was died on December 23, 2004 in AIIMS, New Delhi. His body was not allowed inside AICC building but was cremated with full state honours in Hyderabad. His body was kept in state at the Jubilee Hall in Hyderabad. Telangana Government has declared his birth anniversary celebrations as State function. This move by KCR is laudable and commendable.
