Bollywood heroines spell out plenty of wishes and complaints on directors on various issues. They are not happy with what they earn and most them complaint for not giving them a perfect remuneration. Many stars including Aishwarya rai complained on this issue previously but Kareena kapoor the bebo said she had no such complaints.  

 

"I get paid very well and I have no complaints. If it's a big budget film, they can afford and what works for another actress might not work for somebody else," the actress told reporters in a group interview. It was during that time Kareena said that she will fight for "equal pay cheques" for both actors and actresses. I feel each and every actor is different. 

 

For example, I can never do 'The Dirty Picture'. I don't have that courage and boldness but for me it's a challenge to be a part of 'Golmaal 3' and still have a great role. It's an honour for me to be a part of 'Singham' and that works for me. It's unfair to draw any comparisons," she added.

The 40-year-old’s much awaited red carpet look in slimmer figure was worth waiting for. On her first day at Cannes, she won hearts of her fans as well as critics in a Roberto Cavalli designed golden strapless fishtail gown.

Even for second day, she chose Roberto Cavalli over her favourite Indian designer Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. While for the first appearance she applied red ruby lipstick which complimented her look, for second day she replaced it with a nude shade.

Even when she appeared with her husband Abhishek Bachchan at the amfAR gala dinner, she looked stunning in the shimmery pale pink coloured Armani Privé couture gown with side-parted hair, smokey eyes, red ruby lipstick and earrings.

Looking at the photos of the beauty queen, one can say that it was her best appearances so far at the international film festival.

In a poll conducted by The Indian Express, Aishwarya emerged as the best dressed celeb at the film festival beating Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto. Aishwarya, Kapoor and Pinto are the brand ambassadors of a cosmetic brand. The actresses have been walking the Cannes red carpet as the face of the group.

Aishwarya gained the top spot with 2,500 votes for the stunning red carpet look at this year’s Cannes. Bollywood fashionista Kapoor came at the second spot with 21 percent vote.

Kapoor too managed to attract the crowd’s attention, when she walked the red carpet in black Elie Saab couture gown on day one. The 50s Hollywood diva’s look on first day vowed the crowd.

For her second appearance, she rocked the red carpet in Anamika Khanna’s pale pink net sari dress. She was praised for her desi avatar and gave the ensemble an edgy look with mother Sunita Kapoor’s huge choker designed necklace.

Pinto landed at third spot and the credit goes to her coral Oscar de la Renta strapless gown and feathered Michael Kors gown, which she wore on two different occasions at the red carpet.

A Waiter turns Real-Life Villain for Star Hero

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan might have never anticipated that a day would come where a Waiter turns into his real life Villain. This is the price country's most influential hero has to pay for the hit and run case (September 28th, 2002) which killed a person and injured four others.  

Molay Baug, a bar waiter, identified Salman Khan in the trail court saying the star had come along with his group of friends to have drinks in a five-star hotel on the same night he rammed his vehicle over people sleeping on footpath outside a bakery in suburban Bandra in the 2002. The waiter told to court that he served Cocktails and Bacardi (White Rum) to Salman and his friends in JW Marriot hotel (Mumbai) on that day.   

Earlier, Two more witnesses have identified Salman Khan as the one who was in the driving seat of his Land Cruiser vehicle on that ill-fated day. The trail is expected to continue for few more days.  

Salman Khan almost lost any chance to escape imprisonment in the Hit & Run case with all the witnesses identifying him. He is likely to face a jail term up to 10 years on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Hit And Run Case: Two More Witnesses Identify Salman Khan

Superstar Salman Khan is likely to have more trouble in the most-talked about 2002 "hit and run" case. The fourth witness has identified Salman Khan and stated on record that Salman was drunk at the night of the incident. The witness told that Salman, along with his friends, had ordered for drinks that night. Already, three other witnesses had identified Salman while one among them importantly said that he saw Salman exit the vehicle from the driver's side which is going to play crucial evidence in sentencing for star hero.

Salman is accused of culpable homicide after he drove his SUV onto the pavement in Bandra, killing one person and leaving four others severely injured. If Sallu bhai gets sentence, it will be a big jolt to Bollywood as a whopping Rs 500 Crore (movie budgets) is riding on the actor. Already, Salman's counterpart Sanjay Dutt is in jail after he is convicted in 1993 Bombay blasts case and got five-year-jail term.

Cannes 2014: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan bonds with Freida Pinto – View pic!

Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who is here to attend the ongoing 67th Cannes International Film Festival, has made some new friends – she connected with Freida Pinto and Natasha Poly – on the first meeting.

While Slumdog Millionaire fame Freida is Hollywood-based Indian actor, Natasha is a Russian model.

The L’Oreal Paris ambassadors Aishwarya and Freida met at a special shoot for L’Oreal Paris at Cannes and both were excited.

“I have met Freida for the first time in person. All of us L’Oreal Paris spokespeople are so different, but each one of us is worth it,” Aishwarya said in a statement.

Talking about Natasha, the Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam star said, “I met Natasha for the first time and she is a new mother, so we connected that way.”

Aishwarya, who will walk the red carpet Tuesday and Wednesday, also has a daughter named Aaradhya Bachchan with husband and actor Abhishek Bachchan.

Rohit Shetty who has collaborated with Ajay Devgn in almost all his films except Chennai Express has re-teamed with him again  in his Singham 2. Kareena Kapoor who is also is his favourite plays the lead in Singham 2. 

 

Rohit Shetty says working with these actors is always fun. The 41 year old director who missed Ajay in Chennai Express had Shahrukh Khan in it, while Kareena has worked with him in films like Golmaal Returns and Golmaal 3.

"It is fabulous to get together again with the two. I am reuniting with Ajay after 'Bol Bachchan' and Kareena after 'Golmaal 3'. Kareena is like family and Ajay is a brother. So the mood on the sets is very jovial. It does not feel like we are shooting a film. It is like one big outing and we are having a lot of fun together," Rohit said. 

 

Shooting of Singham 2 which is the sequel of the 2011 film Singham also starring Ajay is currently underway in Goa. Ajay plays the role of a cop Bajirao Singham and Kareena his love interest. "We will shoot in Goa for 20 days. As the film is set in Mumbai, we will shoot the rest of the portion there. Only the village portion is being shot in Goa," the director said. Rohit made his directorial debut in 2003 with 'Zameen' and in his eleven-year career in Bollywood, Rohit has delivered several hits, which have earned him the monikers of hit machine and 100 crore king.

 

"It is a compliment to have these phrases used for you but it is also a lot of pressure. People just expect me to make hit films and I have to constantly strive and work hard to deliver what is expected of me. But the love and adulation motivates me every single day to do better,” Rohit further added. After wrapping Singham 2, Rohit will reunite with SRK for another film. Earlier buzz was that Singham 2 would be called Singham Returns.

Actor Ranveer Singh, who will be seen along side Anushka Sharma in upcoming film 'Dil Dhadakne Do', says he shares a special bond with the actress and is looking forward to work with her. Ranveer, 28, and Anushka first appeared together in 'Band Baaja Baarat', which turned out to be a successful film. They were later seen together in 'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl'. Now, director Zoya Akhtar has managed to cast Ranveer and Anushka in 'Dil Dhadakne Do'.

"Yes... we are in touch with each other. We share a very healthy and professional relationship. I believe Anushka is one of the best young actors in our country. She is incredibly talented and we work well together. I share special chemistry with her. I am excited to work with her again as it has been a long gap since we worked together," 

 

Ranveer told PTI. 'Dil Dhadakne Do' will see Ranveer and Anushka as a couple, while Ranveer and Priyanka Chopra will play siblings. It also features Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah. Apparently, the film revolves around a Punjabi family on a cruise trip. It is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment and scheduled to release next year in June. "I was waiting for the next opportunity where I will get to work with her (Anushka) again as we worked well together in our previous films. 

 

She hasn't been part of prep process as she got back from shooting of 'NH 10'," he said. Anushka is turning producer with 'NH 10', an upcoming thriller film directed by Navdeep Singh of 'Manorama Six Feet Under' fame. The film is co-produced by Phantom Films and is scheduled to release in September this year. "I am very proud of the fact that she is the youngest producer in Hindi film industry. I know little about 'NH 10', I know it is going to be a fantastic film," Ranveer said.

Pakistan court orders case against Veena Malik, husband Asad Khatak over blasphemous content

A Pakistani court today ordered police to register a case against Geo TV, actress Veena Malik, her husband Asad Khatak and others over a programme that allegedly contained blasphemous content.

District and sessions judge of Okara in Punjab province ordered that a case be registered against Geo media group owner Mir Shakilur Rehman, anchor Shaistan Lodhi, Malik, Khatak and others.

The court issued the order on a complaint that Lodhi in her programme ‘Utho Jago Pakistan’ on Geo entertainment last Wednesday had allegedly insulted the family members of Prophet Muhammad. Malik and her husband were guests on the programme.

Geo group has since suspended Lodhi’s programme. Lodhi has apologised to her viewers for hurting their sentiments after the programme drew bitter reaction from them.

As scores of applications have been filed in various Pakistani courts seeking the accused be tried under blasphemy laws, another court in Gujranwala district summoned them on May 29, after admitting a petition in this regard.

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has already served a show-cause notice on Geo Entertainment network for airing objectionable content in the programme and sought immediate explanation from the channel.

According to PEMRA, the show-cause notice was served as the channel had violated clauses (a), (i) & (p) of the Code of Conduct for TV networks contained in Schedule A of PEMRA Rules 2009.

Clause ‘P’ says no programme can be aired that contains material which is against the ideology of Pakistan or Islamic values.

PEMRA said it has received over 5,000 public complaints at at its call centre and website against the programme.

Religious parties including Jammat-ud-Dawah held demonstrations in various parts of the country yesterday and today and demanded that the accused be tried under the blasphemy laws.

Meanwhile, both Lodhi and Veena have gone ‘underground’ fearing backlash from extremists. Blasphemy is an extremely sensitive issue in Islamic Pakistan and insulting the Prophet Mohammed can lead to death penalty.

The strict blasphemy laws have been criticised by rights groups, who say they are frequently misused to settle personal scores.

Drashti Dhami: I can’t fit a movie in my schedule at the moment

Plans to embark on her big screen career have been put on hold after her decision to co-host dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

“It is just not possible. Between my daily soap Madhubala: Ek Ishq Ek Junoon and now this new job of hosting Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa, I have no time for anything else. I don’t even get to take a day off,” said Drashti.

She says that in the last six months, the only time she got an off was for New Year’s Eve and her birthday, which was January 10. “I see no way I can fit in a movie at the moment. And I don’t want to take on something so major unless I’m absolutely sure I’ve enough time for it,” she added.

Although Drashti has taken the task of co-hosting the seventh season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7, she is yet to meet Ranvir Shorey who will be her co-host. “I guess we’re both very busy with our careers. I am yet to meet Ranvir. But I know he’s fantastic with his quips and repartees whereas it is the first time as a host for me. So yes, I am nervous.” Drashti will meet Ranvir soon. “We need to establish a comfort level between us before the show begins.”

About the challenge of hosting the show, Drashti said: “I’ve to admit I am nervous. Last year, I won Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. This year I am hosting it. That sounds like two big challenges on the same show for me for two consecutive years. To be honest, it wasn’t my idea. It was the channel’s idea. I took it on because it’s always a good idea to keep trying to stretch one’s abilities.”

Meanwhile, Drashti’s serial Madhubala has completed two years. She expresses great pride in being part of it. “I am the only actor who has been in the serial from the beginning till now. I don’t see the serial ending in the near future. I’m happy to see it go on. It has got me recognition. I won’t give it up until it wraps up,” she said.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to walk Cannes red carpet on May 20

Aishwarya’s’ official spokesperson posted on Twitter Saturday: “Today Aishwarya will be shooting an ad and doing media interactions. On the red carpet on (May) 20, 21 and AMFAR on (May) 22.”

Aishwarya represents global cosmetics brand L’Oréal Paris at the annual gala, and she was slated to walk the red carpet on Friday. However, her flight from London to Nice was delayed, and the L’Oréal Paris team made quick arrangements for her appearance on an alternate day. “We are sure she will dazzle as always,” Manashi Guha, general manager, L’Oréal Paris India, had earlier said of the former beauty queen’s appearance.

Aishwarya has been attending the Festival de Cannes on behalf of the brand for 13 years now. This year, Cannes is also playing host to amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS fundraiser, which Aishwarya will be part of. Meanwhile, back home, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has announced that Aishwarya will be making her comeback with his film Jazbaa.
