Capital Between Vijayawada-Guntur, Confirms Naidu

Putting months-long speculations to rest, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandra Babu Naidu on Monday set the record straight that the new capital of Andhra Pradesh will be "mostly" built in between Vijayawada and Guntur. However, Babu added that 10 smart cities will be built, along with the capital, across the new State. Babu reiterated his promise of "decentralization" of power.

Chandra Babu told media, "We're mostly considering to set up Capital City between Vijayawada and Guntur. Farmers need not necessary to worry about their lands as efficient and alternative measures be taken and appropriate compensation will be given. We're going to adopt a benchmark policy while taking over the lands as well as in handing over the lands to farmers in return." However, Babu hasn't ruled out shifting the capital to other place. He added, "If there are any problems for us in getting lands, the last option is to shift the capital city."

Babu reiterated that he is committed in deliveirng all the poll-promises. The increase of retirement age for government employees from 58 years to 60 years will be taken in the next Cabinet meeting, informed Naidu. Hinting at Jagan's Open letter, Babu said, "For loan-waiver, Government has to take the permission from Reserve Bank of India. For this, we have to follow few rules and regulations. Hence, committee has been appointed. People, who lack experience and knowledge on this, are doing politics on the issue. Babu further said, "There is nothing to hide. We will reveal everything to people. From Tuesday, we're gonna issue White-papers (Swetha Patram) on all key issues."

Reacting to the fuss created on the expenditure of swearing-in, Naidu countered, "The idea to invite all Central leaders and leaders of various states is to take the scenario of AP to their notice. Rather than meeting every individual at their place and explaining it to them, if once they visit AP, they will get to know the situation here. AP has been formed with a raw deal. We're going to do justice for Andhra Pradesh without doing injustice to Telangana."
