Now,
after the polls are done, it is time to know the results. But, it takes
time and the estimated number of winning seats becomes the hot topic.
Starting with the Congress would form government in Telangana without
external support, party leaders Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Damodar Raja
Narasimha said. Mr Lakshmaiah did not give out an estimated seats, but
Mr Damodar RajaNarasimha said that Congress will get 65 seats. Many
leaders, speaking after assessing polling trends, felt that the Congress
may win 35-40 seats. One Congress leader put the figure at 30, and gave
the TRS 55 seats.
“We
will get 2/3rd majority and form the government. There is a clear,”
said TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao. When asked whether he was confident
of forming the next government, he said, “Hundred per cent. We will
form the government on our own.” Asked if TRS would seek Congress’
support in case of any defected verdict, he said, “I don’t see a
defected verdict. We will come on our own with close to 90 seats.”
The
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, which is hoping to reach
double-digit figures in these elections, has decided to keep its thought
open for a post-poll alliance with either the Congress or the Telangana
Rastra Samiti, if there is a hung Assembly in the new state of
Telangana, and also in the formation of the government at the Centre.
