From 10 Lakh to 25 Crore!!!

With producer Subramanyam reportedly procuring the Telugu rights of "Vikramasimha" (Kochadaiiyaan in Tamil) for 25 crores, industry sources, claims that Superstar Rajnikanth's rise has been meteoric only after "Basha". Actually, AP viewers preferred Tamil stars Kamal Haasan, Vijayakanth and even Arjun, but Rajni was never in consideration in late 80's and early 90's, but one film that changed the trajectory of Rajni was "Basha".

"Since no big producer was willing to take it up, few small time producers pooled around 8 to 10 lakh and bought the dubbing rights of Baasha and rest was history" says a distributor, who claims that Rajni's career can be marked as a 'pre and post' 'Basha' as it turned into a blockbuster and consolidated a fan following among Andhraites.

Subsequently, his films like Muthu (80 laksh), Narasimha 1.2 crore, Chandramukhi, 4 crores, Sivaji 12 crores, Kathanaykudu 13 crores and Robo touched a record price of Rs. 22 crore and now Vikramasimha' fetched 25 crores. Whereas, the market of Kamal, Vijayakant and Arjun has fell down sharply, while Rajni's style, manerisms, and unique dialogue delivery, caught the fancy of Telugu audience from 6 to 60 years.

It remains a big surprise, how Telugu viewers overlooked his charisma for more than a decade, before giving him stardom in Tolywood. Quite an interesting rise from 10 lakh to 25 crores and no other actor, could dream of such phenomenal rise. What you say guys?
