Big Race in TDP for Deputy CM job

With Chandra Babu Naidu-led TDP making a grand comeback and all set to form the first government in the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh, naturally all eyes are on Babu's cabinet. While the list of probables for cabinet posts is huge, surprisingly the aspirants for Deputy CM post too are in large numbers. Since none other than Chandra Babu setting the record straight that he would anoint two Deputy CMs (One from Kapu community and other from BC community) during the election campaigning, senior TDP leaders are lobbying their best for the post.

Although senior leaders KE Krishnamurthy and Kalva Srinivasulu from Rayalaseema are among the aspirants for Deputy CM post, it is unlikely for them to bag the job. Since the CM-designate Chandra Babu Naidu hails from Rayalaseema region, the two deputy CMs would be one from North and other from South coastal Andhra and hence Rayalaseema leaders may have to confine with cabinet posts, say sources in the know.

Polit bureau member-Narsipatnam MLA Ayyanna Patrudu's name has been making buzz for the post. Palasa MLA Gouthu Shyamsunder is also among the aspirants. Meanwhile, TDP top brass says Yanamala Ramakrishnudu is the front-runner in the race. From Kapu community, Peddapuram MLA Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa has more chances to assume the office. Though Ganta Srinivas and Thota Trimurthulu, who jumped into TDP ahead of elections, too eyeing Deputy CM post, there is strong opposition within the party as leaders who jumped into the party in the last minute can't be given top jobs. A senior TDP leader told us that it would send wrong signals to TDP partyworkers if such "jumpers" are given top slots. On flip side, BJP leaders too hopeful that they would be given chance in Babu's cabinet. Let's see what's in Chandra Babu's mind.
