Rajasthan Royals' skipper Shane Watson claimed the second hat-trick of Indian Premier League 2014 when he dismissed three Sunrisers Hyderabad on the trot on Thursday. This was the eight instance of a hat-trick overall after teammate Pravin Tambe achieved the feat against Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday.
Watson's was a "technical hat-trick" as he removed Shikhar Dhawan off the last ball of his first over and returned to dismiss Moises Henriques and Karn Sharma off the first two of his second over. His efforts ensured Hyderabad innings folded on 134/9.
Watson now joins an exclusive list of bowlers to have claimed three wickets in a row. Makhaya Ntini and Sunil Narine are the other two foreigners in the list. Laxmipathy Balaji, Yuvraj Singh (twice), Rohit Sharma, Amit Mishra (thrice), Ajit Chandila, Praveen Kumar and Tambe are the Indians with IPL hat-tricks - 13 instances in all!
In fact, Rajasthan are the only team to have three bowlers with hat-tricks as Chandila claimed the feat for the side in 2012.
