A bitter division that could have been a better division

Division of Andhra pradesh was not well taken by many people and the method adopted for the division was not accepted by anyone. Neither side of the state was happy. All parties including TRS,TDP, YSRCP and T congress are pleased with decision as it gave them a chance. Casualty is Congress team from Seemandhra.  So called high command of con-gress took the decision on division in 2009 but decision kept on hold till 2013. Discussion started again in May 2013 and finally state division bill passed in 2014. All along these years con-gress neither planned anything nor studied the problem and possible solutions. Team congress was pleasing one side for some time and other side for some time but never tried to bring common solution.

Wasting four years, they suddenly remembered telangana just before the election. Even a school kid knows why the state is divided.  Fight for separate Telanagana is not a big surprise but biggest surprise is why the people from Coastal Andhra did not fight for the separate Andhra for last 20years. Entire development happened in and around Hyderabad and no other city is developed. Everyone even in Andhrapradesh has to come to Hyderabad be it for education, employment or any other objective. Situation is same with telangana though five of its districts are part of Hyderabad.

Be it institutes or organizations everything was built in Hyderabad, primarily because it is the capital city, infrastructure and access to the other regions. Problem here is there is no De-centralization of administration, power, growth, opportunities and employment. Most of the entrepreneurs from around the state built their businesses in the capital city.  All previous governments which came to power are responsible for this. Now the primary contention of the Seemandhra and Telangana people was Hyderabad and the opportunities in the city.

Solution for the problem was much easier than what it was projected out. De-centralization of power, administration, opportunities and revenue. More cities like Vijayawada, Vizag, Rajamundry, Guntur , Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar and Nizamabad could have been developed in to educational and job opportunities hubs. Creating IT parks and SEZs all around the state could have been much better for the state. Other problems like power and Water can be solved by common or central nominated boards.

Once these cities are developed, state could have been divided without any opposition from the people. Party which is in power for ten years, can easily plan this and also ensure Win-Win situation.  Poor planning and too much power greed of Congress, so called a 100+ year old party, lead to a bitter division though it could have been a much better division. Party which behaved like a master now went begging in the state. Voters already slapped the party with their fingers and now it’s time for paying the last rights. Wish and hope new governments in both regions will not repeat the same mistakes.
